Blog Update

Updated: Apr 8, 2021

Although I have heard of Twitter it is a new social media platform for me so I am still slowly getting accustomed to the aspects of Twitter such as retweeting. I am actually really excited to use Twitter because it’s an interesting way to interact with my classmates in an academic way.

I followed many researchers that I annotated in my readings such as James Serpell, John Marzluff, and Peter Singer. Some notable organizations that I followed were Oceana, Animal Rights News, World Wildlife Fund, and Sheldrick Wildlife. I found all these organizations to be trustworthy and reliable to use for further research. Something that I retweeted was a disturbing statistic from Sheldrick Wildlife, which claimed that humans have destroyed 1/5 of wildlife habitat in 300 years. It is important that individuals use social media as a platform to raise awareness about the negative impact that humans have on wildlife to benefit future generations. On a lighter note, another retweet I found interesting is that a Covid-19 vaccine for animals is being mass-produced in Russia. Overall, I am looking forward to utilizing Twitter for research purposes and sharing my ideas with other classmates.
